The Lolland Centre’s main building is a traditional Danish half-timbered farmhouse with three wings. Located midway between the towns of Nakskov and Rødby in Lolland, near Vejleby, the centre was bought in 1977. Since then it has been carefully restored.
H.H. 16th Karmapa visited the centre shortly after the school’s purchase of the estate in 1977. During his stay the Karmapa dreamt of Milarepa walking through the centre’s garden. The following day he spontaneously gave an empowerment into Milarepa and performed the Black Crown Ceremony.
In addition Karmapa made the rare prediction that 1,000 beings would reach enlightenment in this place. The Bhutanese meditation master Lopon Tsechu Rinpoche visited the Lolland Centre several times and praised the place very highly.
In 2000 and 2004 H.H. 17th Karmapa visited the centre and on these occasions gave several empowerments.
